The Lucky Libertarian

The Mad Meanderings of an Ornery (Sorta) Objectivist

About

PROMOTING LIBERTY, SELF-RELIANCE, AND TRUE FREE MARKET PRINCIPLES SO THAT MANKIND MAY REACH ITS FULL POTENTIAL

ABOUT

Pretty ambitious, huh? The Lucky Libertarian is an ambitious sort of fellow, and this blog is aimed at those who want to learn the principles of liberty and truly free markets so that they, and not government, can be masters of their own lives

Libertarian-leade-2

Originally launched in 2011 as an avenue for the creator to flex his inner Bastiat, The Lucky Libertarian focused on deconstructing myths concerning the need for Big Government, and highlighting sound economic principles that facilitate free choice in trade, without interference from crony capitalists and their pet politicians and bureaucrats. Okay…that was kind of harsh. One day, we’ll figure out a nicer way to put that. Not today…

We went on hiatus in 2012. Life can be hectic, and the demands of providing not just content, but relevant, quality content, are heavy. We kept meaning to relaunch, but we didn’t want to do it until we were ready to be the best. So we’re back. Some of the things that we strive to provide

  • A fair and balanced point of view. Yes, that sounds a lot like a certain cable news channel, but seriously, even within the Libertarian family, there is a wide variety of viewpoints. Yes, our posts are obviously going to be presented from a certain, Libertarian basis, but we also want to ensure that we provide the relevant facts, and allow you to come to your own conclusions. That’s part of promoting liberty; teaching your principles but also allowing dissenting points of view to be presented.
  • In keeping with the previous principle, we believe in engagement with our readers. In addition to discussions within our posts contained here, we want to hear your stories on our Facebook and Google + pages, see your reactions to our videos on YouTube…wherever we are, we want you to be as well.
  • Finally, we would actually like to raise the level of discourse in this debate. It is a debate for the soul of society, true, but we think it could use a touch of nuance. Too often, well-meaning people of divergent beliefs spend their time treating the opposition as some sort of Great Satan. No, we don’t think that the liberalism of the Democratic Party is harmless. Nor do we think that the all-encompassing need of the conservative wing of the Republican Party is in any way simpatico with the principles of liberty. But they’re not necessarily evil people. They’re just wrong. And that’s ok.

SO, WHO IS THIS RECKLESSLY AMBITIOUS, OBVIOUSLY INSANE DUDE THAT THINKS HE CAN TURN THE TIDE OF CRONY CAPITALISM, PROMOTE LIBERTY AND INSITUTE HONEST DEBATE IN OUR POLARIZED SOCIETY?

That’s a good question, and I wish it had an interesting answer…but, it’s just me. The Lucky Libertarian was founded by Tarnell Brown, as a venue for both social commentary and the proper teachings of the principles of Libertarianism. It is Tarnell’s wish to reach the disaffected and weary, to show them that they have another choice and that they can create the society that they need – a society in which they are free to grow and produce without interference, so long as they do not infringe upon others.

Tarnell is tired of referring to himself in the third person for now, so suffice it to say that I am an eclectic individual. I have worked in banking and finance, insurance, politics, telemarketing, security, and other industries that I don’t even remember. I have degrees in economics and public policy from Liberty University, and it is my intent to receive a doctorate in economics at some point in time.

Libertarians, as proponents of free markets, are often entrepreneurial, and I am no different. I am the owner of Lucky Libertarian Enterprises, an internet marketing concern whose purpose is to help others achieve financial freedom online, most specifically by creating excellent content that others value enough to pay for.

Anyway, let’s take this journey towards freedom together. I hope you enjoy the ride, and share this journey with others.
